As the government starts to allocate funding for a variety of ‘green’ measures to support the UK’s economic recovery, we’d like to ensure that the views of business are taken into account.

Earlier this month, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a £3bn package to improve energy efficiency in public sector buildings and social housing. And last week, Boris Johnson pledged £750m to help decarbonise heavy industry and aviation.

Further funding to support a green recovery is expected in the Autumn Budget, with more detail on the role business will play in the government’s much-anticipated Net Zero Review and Energy White Paper, due to be published later this year.

Businesses prepare for net zero

Talking to our customers, we’ve heard a broad range of views and plans around reducing carbon emissions and increasing sustainability.

Some businesses are already committed to meeting net zero targets by 2050 or before. Many are keen to get started. Others are taking a ‘wait and see’ approach until there is more clarity on any forthcoming mandatory obligations and support.

Giving customers a voice

In the past, we’ve championed ‘giving customers a voice’ on key issues, such as Electricity Market Reform (EMR). And at this critical time, we’d like to ensure that business views on what you want and need are heard by those shaping the policies and support designed to aid the UK’s economic recovery.

For example:

  • Do you believe that net zero by 2050 is a realistic target both for the UK and your business?

  • Where would you like to see investment and support for your sector?

  • Which technologies do you think will make the biggest difference?

Share your views

That’s why we are inviting you to take part in a short survey, to gauge your views on the net zero target, and what support you would like from the government to aid your sustainability plans post-Covid-19.

Your views will then be included in a survey report that will be presented to the Department for Business, Energy and Industry Strategy (BEIS), as it draws up its roadmap to net zero.

You will also receive an exclusive first copy of the survey findings.

Business has a crucial role to play in the UK’s economic recovery – as well as meeting the longer-term net zero goal. So your views really do matter.

Please take the survey here to ensure your voice is heard.
